Making Memories

Wow, it’s July already! Where does the time go? I love the 4th of July because it is a symbol of the birth of a nation. I look back forty years ago when I started Wood Palace and think, wow, that alone was a lot of work, never mind a whole nation, lol. It’s a great month of celebration with cookouts, beaches, long summer night walks and getting together with family and friends. The latter is always what life is all about.

July is also a great time to reflect on our homes and plan those next projects. I have to say that after living in my home for 17 years, I finally started to focus on getting my bar/TV and pool room done in my basement, and adding that extra master closet that I have needed now for many years. It feels good to finally focus on my own home and get some projects done that have been on my mind. Also, last year, I finally purchased a shed from Reeds Ferry and I have to tell you, I should have done that years ago. Not only does it organize those extra “things” in our life that clutter up the garage and basement but it is also a beautiful building that my side yard needed. What a great company they are to deal with.

We are also busy planning all of the events and celebrations that we will be having here in the showroom for our 40th Anniversary this year. I have to say that it has been fun looking back at all of the memories from the past. Life goes so fast and it stops for no one. I recently got some bad news that my doctor had brain cancer. He passed at the young age of 63. I believe things like this that happen in our lives teach us what we need to know. I pledged years ago that I will cherish every relationship and every day, for today is what we have.

What things do you have planned this summer? This year? Whatever that you decide, enjoy every minute with the people that you love. If you have any projects in mind, let me know, I would love to hear about them. When other people do a project, it inspires me and gives me ideas for my own home. I would love to hear about and see the before and after pictures. Here is my email: tholick@woodpalacekitchens.com in case you want to share.

We will be re-launching our “Americana Collection” again this summer for clients that want a kitchen in the $8,000 – 20,000 range, so if you know anyone looking to tackle their kitchen, we would love to help them.

I want to thank you all for being a part of Wood Palace over the years. We have learned so much about life being in business. The kitchen is such a big part of our lives as we bring up our families. That’s why I chose the kitchen picture this month with my grandsons. My daughter was a big part of our kitchen growing up, and my grandsons have followed suit. It’s still tough to believe that they are 12 and 13 now, but they still love cooking with me.

Have fun this summer and make some nice memories! We will always have those!

Bon Appetit!
