The New Normal in Home Fashion

Farmhouse KitchenI can still recall the day not so many years ago when everything had to match in your home when it came to decorating or remodeling it. It was a no-no to mix white and off white in the same room. I also remember the different eras where bold colors like avocado green, harvest gold and bright oranges dominated our kitchens. When you look back at it, were those colors much different than today with their bold statements? Bold color introductions will always come and go in different palettes.

Purple seems to be on the rise these days. Different shades of grey have been hot for a few years now. Some magazines are touting that grey is the new white these days. Grey can be such a versatile color for every taste variety. Greys were known to dominate the contemporary scene back in the ’80s and ’90s. Now greys seem to be taking over in most styles like Transitional, Metro, Cottage, Classic and even in Country/Farmhouse. From cold to warmer shades, grey is center stage.

With so many colors available these days, the new rule is anything is possible. It’s no wonder that kitchens are now reflecting these new rules for fashion and color statements. I love helping today’s consumers with their kitchen colors and style selections. Cabinet paint and stain color choices are plentiful with out-of-the-box choices. To me, their personality is what drives my suggestions to help them see the possibilities that transform the room from normal to spectacular. I love coming up with ideas of colors and products that they never thought possible could come together. Fun and exciting seem to be the new norm of in the fashion world and I thrive at bringing it to reality for them. The kitchen above was a prime example of colors mingling together in perfect harmony and taste with the clients Country/Farmhouse meets modern taste. Take a look on our Wood Palace Kitchens page on FB later on as I will be featuring a kitchen and bath job in a house on a lake where the colors and the many different products had a party together with each other.

No matter what colors are your favorite, have fun with your next remodeling project. Let some of those colors spell out the real you that is chained up inside and let them have fun together. Be bold, be daring and most of all, be you. Colors come and go in time so make the most of those stories along the way and make a grand statement that long after they are gone, keeps singing your song.                   Bon Appetit!
